new craft crush

I got back to my desk from lunch a few months back, and there was a little package waiting for me. It was a tatting shuttle, bobbins and yarn, left for me by my colleague Juanita! Another colleague, Tina, gave me a lunch time lesson, and before you know it I've got a whole new addiction!

Thank you so much Juanita and Tina!

Ooh that's lovely! I've never heard of tatting before. Is it easy to learn? What are you going to do with the finished... I don't want to say "tat"... what do you call it?

Oooh, I like. I didn't know what tatting was, but your pieces look like a bit like the lovely shapes you can create with delicate crochet that make me think I want to learn to crochet. Hmm, maybe tatting is the thing. How difficult is it? I'd like to find out more.

Hi guys, I hadn't heard of tatting either! It's considered to be a kind of lace I think, it's basically lots of little knots and is surprisingly easy to learn. There 4 or 5 basic things and then each pattern is made up of these in different combinations. The small pieces and edging I'll attach to various objects I guess :-), I've got some cute little collar patters.
Thanks for your comments xxx

How lovely! I have never tried tatting it looks so difficult! Yours sounds like a lively workplace if people are giving coworkers such lovely gifts and lessons!
